The extras that show up on quotes
- Tear-out and haul-away. Carpet is quick to remove. Tile set on a slab is slow, dusty work, which is why it adds the most.
- New baseboards. Replacing baseboards instead of adding quarter round takes 1,000 sq ft from about $4,900–$9,300 to $5,500–$10,400.
- Leveling. Floating floors need a flat slab. Grinding high spots and pouring self-leveler on a 1,000 sq ft job adds a few hundred to a thousand dollars.
